More About the Oregon Cosmetology ExamIn the State of Oregon, the Oregon Board of Cosmetology is the regulatory agency charged with the task of preserving the ethical and professional standards of the profession. In conjunction with the Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA), the Oregon Board of Cosmetology issues licenses to aspiring cosmetologists like you.
Unlike many other states, Oregon does not use the NIC testing format. So, it is strongly recommended that you work with your school to prepare for your exam and only use Salon Prep as a supplemental tool.
In the State of Oregon, you can receive a certificate to practice in barbering, esthetics, hair design, and nail technology. After graduating, your next step to getting your license is to have your school submit transcripts directly to the Oregon Health Licensing Agency, submit a practitioner application, and pay application and exam fees. You will also need to take a practical and written exam. You can take your written exams in the field of practice on a walk-in basis. Students have 90 minutes to take field exams and 60 minutes to take the Oregon Laws and Rules section. After passing, you can receive your certification the very same day.
