More About the Georgia Cosmetology Exam
To get the most of your time with Salon Prep, it’s critical you are kept informed about the licensure requirements in Georgia. In the State of Georgia, it is the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology’s duty to uphold the professional standards of the industry.
The Georgia State Board of Cosmetology has partnered with DL Roope Administrations, Inc. to administer its practical and written examinations, which follow the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology format. Students who are graduating from a cosmetology school should receive their application from their school.
The written exam portion of the exam will take 90 minutes. You will be asked multiple-choice questions in the following categories: scientific concepts, hair care and services, skin care and services, and nail care and services. The practical examination will last about 4 hours and focuses on the following areas: set up and client protection, thermal curling, hair cutting, chemical waving, hair lightening and hair coloring, chemical relaxing, basic facial, and sculptured nail.
You must score at least a 70 on both the written and practical exams to pass. After you pass both portions, you need to submit an application to the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology with a $30 license fee.
